From orchard to scoop: Our Process

Our Māori heritage inspires our commitment to caring for people and place, guided by manaakitanga, caring for others. This ethos shapes every step of our process, from selecting the finest fruit to preserving enzymes and ensuring quality throughout the value chain.

Manaakitanga

Manaakitanga is a core principle of te ao Māori, often translated as hospitality, care, and respect. Its deeper meaning lies in uplifting others—mana is a person’s power or presence, while aki means to uplift. Together, manaakitanga is the act of enhancing another’s mana through generosity, kindness, and mutual respect.

Manaakitanga is woven into every aspect of what we do—from the way we care for the land to the relationships we nurture and the products we provide. This care extends to our connections with others, where kindness, trust, and fair practices strengthen communities and create relationships beyond transactions. The products we supply embody these values, crafted with integrity and sustainability to nourish people while respecting the land they come from.

Manaakitanga in Practice

Our Process

Our process starts by selecting the best kiwifruit with the highest enzyme activity for optimal quality from our orchards in the Bay of Plenty.

Kiwifruit Puree Powder

The hand-graded green kiwifruit is processed in our purpose-built factory using custom in-house systems and strict quality control, with skins and seeds removed to produce a premium puree.

Kiwifruit Flesh Powder

The fruit is washed, peeled, and diced using modern equipment under stringent quality control,

Both the fruit and puree are placed into a large vacuum chamber (freeze-dryer) that carefully removes both air and water without affecting the natural qualities of the fruit.

Over 30 hours, water is removed through sublimation at 40–50°C, reducing moisture content to below 5%. The dried kiwifruit and puree is then milled into a fine powder that maintains its quality during storage and application, and retains essential properties like enzyme activity, fiber, nutrients, natural colour and flavour.

For excipient added products, excipient is added to enhance the powder’s stability and improve its flow properties during processing.

With control from orchard to end product, each batch undergoes rigorous testing by accredited laboratories for enzyme activity, moisture content, whilst ensuring that contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides are well within recognised international standards.

The result is a premium kiwifruit powder that ensures consistency, traceability and provenance, and food security, while remaining easy to handle, stable in storage, and rich in enzymes, fibre, nutrients, colour, and flavour.
